Anthony “Doug” Lawrence

Board Member

Anthony “Doug” Lawrence was a scholarship athlete at the University of Maryland and a three-year letterman on the football team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and worked as a Lead Investigator and Senior Investigator in the District of Columbia for different agencies over a 24-year span, while implementing, mentoring, and leading respective internship programs.

Lawrence co-founded True Colors, an education program for middle school and high school students focused on career pathways and college readiness, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The trendsetting three-dimensions-of-learning system—using classroom instruction, influencers, and field trips—motivates students to participate in the program with three goals: to Inform, Inspire, and Improve.

He launched his writing career in 1999, releasing his first novelette, The Ring of Betrayal, followed by When Tomorrow Comes in 2002. In 2005, his novel I No Longer Play the Game, which is his signature work of fiction, was published by the Beckham House Publishing Group.

After 17 years since last being published, Lawrence returns with a fresh outlook inspired by maturity, releasing his most recent fiction work to encourage a new generation to read.
